Early Voting

I’m old fashioned. I believe voting is not only my right but my privilege as an American. I’ve always looked forward to Election Day and taken seriously the votes I cast. I have never believed in spreading the voting period over days or weeks. BUT… whether I agree with that policy or not, the fact is that voting does occur over many days and weeks. And it’s about time Republicans leveled the playing field.

I support—and ask you to support—the Republican National Committee’s call on all Republican voters to consider banking their vote; that is, vote early, don’t wait for Election Day, to ensure your vote is counted in November.

Democratic voters embraced early voting in 2020 and again in the 2022 midterms. In both cases, their side overperformed. Some say they cheated. Whether you believe those outcomes were caused by election interference or a better ground game, a study by the MIT Data and Science Lab found that 60% of Democrats cast their ballots by mail compared to 30% of Republicans. What they did, by a 2 to 1 margin, was to ensure their votes were registered and ready to be counted before election day. They “banked” their vote. They ensured that nothing, not bad weather, a family emergency, or a busy day at work, would prevent their vote from being cast.

You can, too. In this election, we’re asking all Republicans to bank their votes early. In 2020, President Trump lost Nevada by 33,596 votes, Georgia by 11,779 votes, and Arizona by 10,457 votes. If he’d won the electoral college votes from these states alone, he would have had 265 of the 270 electoral votes needed to become president. Every vote counts.

So, please consider mail-in, absentee, and in-person early voting. It’s time to Swamp the Vote!
